The G25 sedan is new for 2011.Infiniti has created an original powering system for the M35 Hybrid called, the Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid.
This system combines a a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with 68 horsepower electric motor that’s built into a upgraded version of the standard Infinit’s 7-speed automatic transmission. The torque converter has been removed, which Infiniti claims makes the engine more responsive and efficient.Infiniti headquarters tells the Ft. Myers Infiniti G37 dealer that the this electric motor helps drive the wheels up to 60 miles per hour, which helps improve fuel economy and highway driving.
The motor weighs around 150kg, which is more than the standard M but the M35 Hybrid’s use of a laminated lithium-ion battery helps save 30kg. The M35 Hyrbrid also uses two clutches. The first clutch is installed between the engine and electric motor, that allows the full decoupling of the engine when in both electric and power regeneration modes. This is done in order to reduce mechanical drag and boost efficiency of the electric motor. The second clutch connects the electric motor to the drive train.
