Car news from The Automotive Car - France’s PSA Peugeot Citroen group plans to take on the hybrid market in coming years with new diesel-electric hybrid technology, the first of which will be appearing in the new Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 due in the spring of 2011 in Europe. The technology, dubbed HYbrid4, has already been previewed in a string of concept cars but the 3008 HYbrid4 will be the first production application of it and the first production diesel-electric hybrid anywhere in the world.

Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 would be the initially diesel total hybrid car. The mixture of a fuel efficient 2.0 litre 163 bhp HDi diesel motor along with a 37 bhp electric motor may be the ideal mixture for a hybrid auto. The Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4′s diesel motor offers superior Combined Drive Cycle fuel usage of 74.4mpg, and CO2 emissions of 99g/km.

The Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 added benefits from the mixed energy of the HDi diesel motor and electrical engine during speeding while an immediate spike of strength is needed.
The optimum combined ability output is 200 bhp, 163 bhp through the two.0 litre HDi FAP diesel motor and 37 bhp from your electrical engine. A maximum torque of 500 Nm is accessible, split with 300Nm with the front in the HDi diesel motor and 200 Nm with the backed generated through the electric engine.
