The new Opel Ampera Concept car |
Car news from The Automotive Car - The new Ampera Concept car will be one of Opel's star attractions at the upcoming Geneva Auto Salon in early March, showing off an interesting new design that differs slightly from the American-destined Chevrolet Volt. The acceleration of the Ampera-Concept is driven continuously by an electric motor, regardless of the circumstances or speed. When the route is less than 60 km power is supplied by electricity stored in lithium-ion battery of 16 kWh, which can be plugged into any 230 volt household electrical outlet to be recharged.
When first uses electricity stored in batteries, the Ampera-Concept does not emit CO2. When the battery power is exhausted, a generator motor takes over essence/E85 imperceptibly, and supplies electricity that will power the electric drive motor while maintaining the battery charge. This mode of operation extends the range to 500 km.
