2007 AC Schnitzer GP3.10 Concept Review

Driving pleasure has been written large AC Schnitzer for 20 years. And, fortunately, do not change the Frankfurt Motor Show 62. But this goal can be achieved totally alternative way, and started an excellent AC Schnitzer presents Gas Powered GP3.10. This high-performance coupé has LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) to drive, where power and efficiency, economy and ecology, meet in an interesting study.

As if the extravagant exterior of the project vehicle, based on the 3 Series Coupe today, is not enough under the bonnet growls the V10 engine of the current M5/M6 AC Schnitzer presents the show for the first time in the design bivalent. The vehicle has a fully sequential LPG system with two parallel 5-cylinder vaporizers. No loss of power or dynamics. The engine, tuned to a control unit and exhaust tract with sports catalyst and reassigned modified exhaust manifold, develops 552 hp and produces up to 400 lb-ft at the crankshaft. That in itself is 45 horsepower more than the M5/M6. But why power this vehicle to LPG?

Liquefied petroleum gas is a reasonable alternative to regular gasoline, both economically and environmentally, and - after corresponding conversion - can be burned in any gasoline engine. Per liter, LPG is cheaper than petrol but produces around 15 percent less CO2 from exhaust gases. With over 2,700 service stations in Germany alone, fuel supplies are guaranteed everywhere, and tank 80 liters of gas is on board with the original fuel tank of 60 liters. So you can switch between fuels at any time. In any case, acceleration is more than acceptable. The sprint to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and 124 mph mark is passed after just 13.9 seconds. 200 mph, not just pressure on your back begin to decrease. It is nimble enough to show the rear lights to many powerful sports cars. Especially when a racing suspension from Aachen provides incredible handling qualities. And to match the power of acceleration, no brakes on the AC Schnitzer GP3.

Gas Powered 10-forward, 8-pot fixed calliper brakes with perforated and vented discs size 374 x 36 mm, on the back of a braking system with four discs of 350 mm x 24 pan.

Speaking of slowing down: the striking body design will soon bring passers-by to stop. In combination with special paint mineral green, the AC Schnitzer aerodynamic kit is a real eye-catcher. The air intakes on the front fenders with chrome ribs features, and extensions 60 mm rear wheel, are particularly successful. With Gas Powered GP3.10 AC Schnitzer, AC Schnitzer has created a feast for the senses, where the muffler back to the central position, with their sports crescendo of sound is the acoustic center.

The design of the rear has its own contours and the rear skirt with integrated diffuser, rear wing in carbon center of the roof, are aesthetically pleasing as the powerful front skirt of the grid coarsemesh sports. This will effectively contribute to breathe oxygen-hungry five-liter engine. Equally breathtaking for the spectator at first sight, racing rims Type VI.

The latest creation of the Aachen wheel manufacturer combines the classic Y-spoke appearance of five striking hollow spokes and bicolor finish. Naturally these decorative elements are not only available in AC Schnitzer GP3.10 Gas Powered. At present, however, it is not a unique creation for the sale, with an estimated value of $ 270.000. But we can still be excited, because the number of components will soon find its way into a regular AC Schnitzer range. Internal parts exciting sport can already be ordered for example, customers with 3 series coupe.
