EAssist 2012 Buick Regal Review

2012 Buick Regal announced eAssist ™ fuel technology, which improves the overall fuel savings of 25 percent over 2011 four-cylinder/six-speed power line. Estimated fuel economy is 26 mpg city and 37 mpg on the highway (EPA certification pending).

Regal 2012 Buick LaCrosse eAssist joined as the second equipped with technology to improve efficiency. The system uses state of the art lithium-ion system, an electric motor induction generator and regenerative braking to improve fuel economy. Its fuel economy tops competitors like the Acura TSX, valued at 22 mpg city and 31 mpg on the highway. Regal 37 mpg on the highway is 20 percent and the Toronto Stock Exchange does not offer a six-speed automatic transmission that is standard in the Buick.

"EAssist Buick technology means that customers do not have to negotiate a premium driving experience efficiency," said Tony DiSalle, vice president of marketing at Buick. "We believe that Regal and electric vehicles offer more logical and more economical option compared to other luxury sedans in size medium sized hybrid normal."

Regal with eAssist will go on sale this fall. It is linked to a library expansion, which includes 2.4le 2.0l (manual transmission) Turbo models, as well as upcoming Regal GS. Regal eAssist offers packages with luxury and comfort offered on other models, as well as unique features, which are:

• alloy wheels 17 inch tires with low rolling resistance

• A choice of driver, fuel economy mode to optimize the cooling system, allowing more frequent and longer engine stop

• An indicator on the dashboard that continuously ECO meets the needs of management, which allows the driver to greater efficiency

• Power-flow reading is a 7-inch screen infotainment shows that the flow of energy to optimize fuel consumption of the system, as well as revitalize and recharge the battery is controlled by the engine.

eAssist details.

Regal 2.4L couple in direct-injection Ecotec four-cylinder engine and next-generation six-speed automatic transmission, the system uses the energy stored in the battery eAssist power electric lift needed in different driving situations, the optimization of the engine and transmission operation. An advanced lithium-ion battery 115V and the latest generation of 15 kW induction motor-generator unit to help fuel economy by increasing:

• Regenerative braking, which provides up to 15 kW of electricity to charge the battery

• To provide up to 11 kW (15 hp) power assistance during acceleration

• Stops automatically when the vehicle is stopped

• An aggressive fuel cutoff during deceleration to zero speed of the vehicle, which allows the equalization torque from the engine control-induction generator

• Intelligent charging / discharging the battery to high voltage.

"The ability to deliver electric lift for powertrain system in the acceleration phase of heavy training and quality allows the engine and transmission to operate more efficiently," said Steve Poulos, chief engineer of the overall system eAssist. "Off full fuel stops and supplements during deceleration and braking power booster with additional fuel savings."

Regal with eAssist technology also has improved aerodynamics, chassis and tires are optimized for performance and fuel economy. It 'also a hill-help, which captures the brake pressure to help the driver to accelerate more convenient to stop moderate to strong. It does so by reducing the tendency of the vehicle to restore the engine shut down.

EAssist System 115V air-cooled lithium-ion mattresses 2.4l Ecotec four-cylinder is about 11 kW (15 hp) of power assist during acceleration heavy, and 15 kW of regenerative braking. The system also allows the Ecotec engine is off fuel supply for a slowdown, which saves fuel. Even if the fuel shut-off mode, with an induction motor-generator unit to continue spinning and the engine immediately, and a smooth take-off power when the driver presses the accelerator pedal. Then, when the vehicle stops, the motor-induction generator is running the engine, leading to an arrest sweet - a smooth surface repositioned properly.

"The battery system is designed to provide assistance to power internal combustion engine, rather than store energy for all electric propulsion," said Poulos. "It's really an extension of the conventional combustion engine, not a replacement for her."

The Power Pack contains eAssist lithium-ion battery, the voltage transformer and integrated 12V power supply. It is located in a space between the back seat and trunk, and it is surprisingly light and compact and weighs only 65 pounds (29 kg). The boot is slightly lower compared to 2011 models with four-cylinder/six-speed powertrain, but still offers 11.1 cubic feet (314 liters) of storage. A quiet fan cools the electrical power supply, which draws air from a valve in the tray behind the rear seat package.

The induction system eAssist electric motor-generator is mounted on the engine instead of the generator to provide both the power to help and power generation with features of a motor with belt drive system unique . The motor-induction generator is a high performance induction motor that is compact water cooled for best performance and efficiency.

The new generation of six-speed.

EAssist system operates Regal 2.4l Ecotec four-cylinder direct injection, and the next-generation six-speed automatic transmission combination. In eAssist with Regal, the engine power of 182 hp (136 kW) and the next generation of Hydra-Matic 6T40 transmission technology, will be held the next level of features designed to improve the efficiency of the power line.

Significant internal changes to the transfer switch and controls the hardware that causes the loss of rotation, improving the response and time-shift. More power offered by the system allows greater eAssist gears to improve efficiency without compromising the steady state acceleration and driveability. The system's ability to offer some help to cruising speed electric, the driver can accelerate gently, or get a slight degree without downshifting the transmission.

An auxiliary electric transmission oil pump is added to the 6T40, which keeps the transmission started and flowing fluid when the engine is stopped at a stop. This prevents the transmission ready to go out when the driver accelerates, for a perfect driving experience without compromise.
