Buick LaCrosse eAssist 2012 Review

2012 Buick electric vehicles ™ introduces a new technology that increases fuel consumption fuel economy by 25 percent compared with the LaCrosse engine four-cylinder/six-speed 2011. EAssist Technology offers world-class fuel economy of 37 mpg on the highway, without losing the luxury, performance and the expected value of Buick's flagship sedan.

The system becomes eAssist powertrain is standard on the LaCrosse from next summer. The system uses state of the art lithium-ion system and electric motor-generator to allow regenerative braking to improve fuel economy 25 percent LaCrosse.

Buick LaCrosse eAssist 2012
Buick LaCrosse eAssist 2012
"The LaCrosse eAssist with technology is the latest example of how successful this car - with sales up over 200 percent for the year - throw off the segment by helping to reinvent the Buick," said John Schwegman, vice president of marketing for Buick. "This is a good choice for those who want great fuel economy and performance in a luxury car with excellent value -. The LaCrosse with eAssist cost thousands less than its competitors with similar technologies "

Mated to a 2.4-liter direct injection Ecotec four-cylinder and the next generation six-speed automatic transmission, the system uses the energy stored in the battery to provide electrical stimulation necessary eAssist in different driving scenarios, optimization and performance motor transmission. Avance 115 lithium ion and the latest generation of 15 kW engine-generator fuel economy will help boost the drive through:

• Regenerative braking, which provides up to 15 kW of electricity to charge the battery

• To provide up to 11 kW (15 hp) power assistance during acceleration

• Automatic stop when the vehicle is stopped

• fuel cutoff during deceleration aggressive zero vehicle speed allowed by the smoothness of the torque provided by motor-generator unit

• Intelligent charging / discharging the battery to high voltage.

Buick LaCrosse eAssist 2012

LaCrosse Buick eAssist with technology is also equipped with underbody aerodynamics improved and optimized for performance tires and fuel economy, and active control of air flow front, which improves aerodynamics and heat engine. Electronically controlled shutters on lower rack near the highest speed to push more air in the vehicle, increasing the aerodynamic efficiency to increase fuel economy. All these systems technology eAssist increased braking capacity, while improving vehicle performance while driving.

"LaCrosse is the first segment of its transmission four-cylinder/six-speed, Strut Hiper before and now looks the way for a new standard for technology eAssist," said Schwegman. "The important thing is, with eAssist LaCrosse is a standard for the transmission-equipped four-cylinder models, and there is no premium cost."

LaCrosse with a pressure gauge on the dash eAssist ECO, which is constantly driving to react, allowing the driver to drive as efficiently as possible. It 'also a hill-help, which captures the brake pressure to help the driver to accelerate more convenient to stop moderate to strong. It does so by reducing the tendency of the vehicle to restore the engine shut down.

Details eAssist.

Although eAssist system to share the same belt-starter-charger design BAS previous assembly, produces more than three times more effective and is much more likely than the previous generation of the BAS.

"This is the system eAssist is more than just the next generation of BAS system. The ability to integrate with the braking technology of lithium-ion battery last creates a system that offers significant fuel efficiency gains that will benefit customers, "said Steve Poulos, chief engineer of the overall system eAssist. "Being able to deliver lifting electric powertrain system under hard acceleration and transmission quality training enables LaCrosse to operate more efficiently, while additional features engine start-stop and fuel shutoff during deceleration added fuel savings. "

EAssist System 115V air-cooled lithium-ion mattresses 2.4l Ecotec four-cylinder is about 11 kW (15 hp) of power assist during acceleration heavy, and 15 kW of regenerative braking. This is comparable to only 2 kW of power and regenerative power of 5 kW watch previous system BAS. Higher power capability allows you to recover more energy during regenerative braking to improve fuel economy.

The system also allows the Ecotec to close the fuel supply in terms of a slowdown, the additional fuel savings. While cut off mode, the motor-generator unit continues to rotate with the engine immediately and provide energy to a good start when the driver presses the accelerator. Then, when the vehicle stops, the motor-generator unit is operating the engine, leading to a smooth stop - well positioned for a graceful restart.

"The battery system is designed to provide assistance to power internal combustion engine, rather than storage of energy for all electric propulsion," said Poulos. "It's really an extension of the conventional combustion engine, not a replacement for her."

The power supply contains eAssist lithium-ion battery, power inverter built in 12V. It is located in a compartment between the rear seat and trunk, and is surprisingly compact and lightweight, weighing only 65 pounds (29 kg). Still allowing access to the trunk by folding rear seats - an attribute not shared with competitors hybrid. The boot is slightly reduced compared to 2011 models with four-cylinder/six-speed propulsion system, but offers 10.9 cubic feet (307 liters) of storage. An electric fan cools the power supply, drawing air from a vent located in the package tray behind the rear seat. The fans are designed to be quiet in the cab.

EAssist electric motor-generator system installed in the engine instead of the shipper, as well as to provide the electric motor assist and activities that generate the motor system through a new belt. The motor-generator is high performance, compact induction motor, which is cooled to enhance performance and efficiency.

The next-generation six-speed transmission.

System works EAssist LaCrosse 2.4l Ecotec four-cylinder direct injection, and the next-generation six-speed automatic transmission combination. In LaCrosse with eAssist, the engine is rated around 180 horsepower (134 kW) and the next generation of Hydra-Matic 6T40 transmission technology, will be held the next level of features designed to improve the efficiency of the power line.

Significant internal changes to the transfer switch and controls the hardware that causes the loss of rotation, improving the response and time-shift. More power offered by the system allows greater eAssist gears to improve efficiency without compromising the steady state acceleration and driveability. The system's ability to offer some help to cruising speed electric, the driver can accelerate gently, or get a slight degree without downshifting the transmission.

Additional electric pump oil is added to the 6T40 transmission, which keeps the transfer of fluid and flows triggered when the engine is shut off at stops. That keeps the transmission ready to run when the driver accelerates, seamless, no-compromise driving experience.

"This is a highly integrated drivetrain without sacrificing the driving performance, quality change, driving and handling," said Daryl Wilson, lead development engineer LaCrosse. "We believe this combination suggests the future of vehicles powered primarily by an internal combustion engine."

At the Insurance Institute for Road Safety tests, the Buick scored "good" (the highest), the agency front-offset and side impact tests.

Interior Design and Special Features

2011 Buick LaCrosse interior is sleek and contemporary. The front seats are surrounded by an arc extending from the edge of door to door accents, elegant, beautifully built and simulated wood contribute to the feeling decidedly higher level. At night, passengers are bathed in soft light blue lighting environment. The controls on the center console are certainly more complicated than the simple commands that are in the Buick past, but the operation of audio, air conditioning and navigation systems should be easy enough to decipher those used for most Modern cars and electronics.

Despite the generous interior, load capacity measures just 13 cubic feet, far less than rival sedans frames. The body is deep enough, but lack of height and width can be problematic for large objects.

Driving Impressions

The driver's seat 2011 Buick LaCrosse has a fun mix of luxury and commitment. The cabin remains blissfully calm the senses without the chamber of repression, because there is no wind, just enough road noise to remind you that did not sit on the couch. Taking into account all the Buick dispatch of the past, treatment of the LaCrosse is the ability to surprise. Confident in the car reacts, and is certainly more interesting to drive than the Lexus ES 350 Rear visibility, however, compromising the car high hat rack and thick roof pillars.

How powerful, 3.6-liter V6 is the obvious choice. We were separated from the four-cylinder engine, because it is extremely important that the weight of the car and have to work so much that the real world gas mileage is likely to suffer.

Interior Design and Special Features

Enclave cabin has a cozy atmosphere with its upscale and elegant dash wood grain messages. There are chrome everywhere, though, which means dazzling reflections when the sun is at certain angles. Two other drawbacks include small and indistinct buttons for audio and climate control, and outward visibility is compromised more than competitive vehicles.

On the positive side, the Enclave is a crossover SUV market bigger. There are 19 cubic feet of usable space behind the third row of seats, 68 cubic feet with the 60/40 third row folded sections on the floor and a large (but not quite minivan degree) 116 cubic feet per second row folded . The third row access is facilitated by a tilt feature and sliding the second row of seats, but some flexibility is still needed to go back, and the third row of the Enclave is more oppressive than the Ford Flex.

Driving Impressions

"Carlike" is a term often used for crossover SUV. It is not entirely applicable to the giant 2011 Buick Enclave, which tipped the scales at nearly 5000 pounds with four-wheel drive, yes, we noticed that the enclave is felt more and more heavily on the route crosses some rival.

However, 3.6-liter V6 engine of the Enclave is powerful enough in most situations, and while the handling is not alive or inspiring, it is stable and secure. For 2011 Buick Enclave also shines on the road with his travels quiet ride and suspension compliance.

2011 Buick Enclave Review

While remaining the same, especially in his four years on the market, Buick full-size crossover with three rows is still very attractive choice for a very competitive segment. 2011 Buick Enclave is basically the same vehicle that we saw last year - and we are with it. Some of the buyers who attend other premium brands Buick could smell the image hard to shake the old man and the cabin materials sometimes inconsistent. Buyers might consider more traditional Ford Flex, Hyundai Veracruz and Mazda CX-9, all of which have their own strengths. In general, however, the Buick Enclave is presented as a good choice for families looking for space, style and luxury at a price that will not break the bank.
